Crispy Fried Cauliflower | Crunchy, Savory & Irresistible

Crispy Fried Cauliflower is an incredibly addictive snack. The cauliflower is coated in a light batter, deep-fried until golden and crispy on the outside while remaining tender and sweet inside. Sprinkled with salt and pepper, it’s so good it rivals fried chicken—and it’s healthier, too!

🌴 Ingredients:

· 1/2 head cauliflower (about 400g, cut into small florets)

🌴 Aromatics:

· 1 egg (beaten, for the batter)
· 3 tbsp cornstarch (about 30g, for coating)
· 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (about 10g, for coating)
· Salt and pepper mix, to taste (sprinkle at the end)

🌴 Seasonings:

· Salt, to taste
· A pinch of white pepper powder
· Cooking oil, as needed (for frying)

🌴 Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Cauliflower
Cut the cauliflower into small florets, wash, and drain thoroughly. ⚠️ Note: Make sure to drain the cauliflower well, or the batter won’t stick and it won’t turn out crispy.
  2. Coat the Cauliflower
In a large bowl, mix the cornstarch, flour, and beaten egg with a little salt, white pepper, and water to make a thick batter. Coat the drained cauliflower evenly. ⚠️ Note: The batter should be thick enough to stick. I’ve tried a thin batter, and the cauliflower didn’t turn out crispy.
  3. Fry the Cauliflower
Heat oil to 160°C (about 60% hot). Fry the coated cauliflower over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy. Drain. ⚠️ Note: Don’t use high heat, or they will burn outside and stay raw inside.
  4. Double-fry (Optional)
Heat the oil to 180°C and fry the cauliflower for another 20-30 seconds. Drain. ⚠️ Note: This makes them extra crispy and keeps them from getting soggy.
  5. Serve
Plate the fried cauliflower and sprinkle with salt and pepper mix while hot. Serve immediately. ⚠️ Note: Add the seasoning at the very end for the best aroma. I’ve tried adding it early, and it all fell off onto the plate.

💡 Tips:
The key to Crispy Fried Cauliflower is “crispy outside, tender inside, and full of aroma.” Drain the cauliflower thoroughly. Make a thick batter that sticks. Double-fry for 20 seconds for extra crispiness. Add the seasoning at the end for the best flavor.
